Introduction to Human Services

Examines the scope, values and principles of the human service profession. Introduces the typical roles and duties of human service workers. Students assess their own motivations, attitudes and interests. In addition to the regular classroom hours, 45 hours of volunteer work in a community human services agency are required. Prerequisites: Human Services Associate course prerequisites.
Enrollment Requirements: Pre-req: Reading score of COMPASS 80 or higher or a C or better in College Reading Strategies, and e-write score of 5 or higher, and writing score of 69 or higher or a C or better in Academic Writing 5/6 or Introduction to College Writing.

Students have until the day before the class starts to register for online, accelerated and short-term classes. After that point, students must obtain permission from the instructor to register and will have until the last date to enroll to use the permission granted to register. For all other classes, students have until the last date to enroll if seats are available.
