Fundamentals of Family Childcare (formerly known as Family Day Care Part 1 and 2) is an overview course of topics related to beginning and operating a quality family day care home business, licensing and business requirements, resources, professionalism, special issues of care for each age group, and school age care with mixed ages. Course emphasis is on what children need as they grow and how providers can meet those needs. Other topics discussed: child development, child guidance, environments, first aid, safety and communicable diseases, nutrition and feeding, and activities. You must be 18 years of age to register for this class.

Students have until the day before the class starts to register for online, accelerated and short-term classes. After that point, students must obtain permission from the instructor to register and will have until the last date to enroll to use the permission granted to register. For all other classes, students have until the last date to enroll if seats are available.
